World Of Warcraft most popular usernames revealed
Researchers Christian Thurau and Anders Drachen at the Copenhagen Business School have researched over 120,000 usernames, the reason behind this was to find out how and why players define themselves on the ever popular MMO World Of Warcraft.
The research has revealed that username Sephiroth, is one of the most popular username variations being used at the moment in European realms of the game. The study didn’t just look at usernames in general though, they also looked at what types of races and classes these usernames were assigned to. It appears that the username ”Arthas” is the most popular name for the human character class within the game, for the Druid race the most popular username was simply revealed as “druid”… It just goes to show that World Of Warcrafts players imagination really is something “special”.
When it comes to the most popular usernames across all classes, races and realms, it has been revealed that ”Nemesis” is the most popular username for players in the EU realms. If your playing in America the username ”Athena” is the most popular among its players. A notable mention to other top featured usernames goes out to ”Death”, “Nightmare”, “Pain”, and “Chaos”. If you think all these usernames give out a doom and gloom feeling you’re certainly right there, it was revealed that negative sounding usernames outnumber positive sounding usernames 6 to 1.
In a final bit of factual findings, it was revealed that the US had a slightly better rate of unique usernames over their European counterparts. Nothing was mentioned about Leroy Jenkins, we presume that there are several hundred usernames in circulation after his infamous rise to fame.
