The Xbox One Is Hugley Popular In Australia

Both the Xbox One and PS4 have been released to the tune of massive sales all over the world, in most cases the PS4 has edged out the Xbox One in most territories. However in Australia, it’s the Xbox One that has edged ahead, it has been reported that the Xbox One has been released to the tune of overwhelming popularity and sales in official figures that have recently been released.

According to the Marketing firm NPD, the Xbox One sold 65,917 units in the first three days of going on sale in the country. This is apparently double the amount that the Nintendo Wii sold when it was released in the country way back in 2006. It also beat the previous record for the most number of consoles sold in a single week in the region.

The PS4 was launched a week after the Xbox One in Australia, this is another reason why the Xbox One has gotten off to a better start than Sony’s console. Availability of the PS4 has also been attributed to Microsoft getting the upper hand in Australia, apparently Sony have not been able to ship as many consoles as they would of liked to the country, which has led to a shortfall in supply and consumers not being able to buy the PS4.

Even though that it’s in second place at the moment, the PS4 has far from failed in Australia at this moment in time. Michael Ephraim, who is the managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia had this to say about the PS4′s launch in the region. “I’ve been around since PlayStation One and we still haven’t seen the kind of demand we’re seeing now for PS4. The first weekend sales figures is just the beginning because we haven’t fulfilled all the pre-orders yet. We haven’t been able to completely fulfil the demand as yet but we will. Hopefully consumers can buy one.”
