In Brazil the PS4 will cost double the ammount of an Xbox One
In Europe and North America, consumers are still debating about the price differences of the PS4 and Xbox One. It’s been widely accepted that the cheaper of the two consoles in the northern hemisphere will be Sony’s PS4, but what about if you start to look at other countries? more specifically Brazil?
According to Brazilian retailers, the PS4 will cost a whopping $1,884 there when it releases, that’s almost double the cost of the Xbox One which coincidentally costs $1,084. The argument about the cheapest console on the market may of just gone out of the window for Sony and the PS4 now, as that’s a truly incredible price. Incredibly bad that is.
It’s not just the cost of the console either, games will also be highly priced, the average cost of a PS3 game in Brazil at the moment is $91 in US currency, PS4 games will still cost $82 when they go on sale. Although cheaper, this is still $20 more expensive than the same games that are on sale in the USA.
Sony recently announced that Brazil was no longer an untapped market, but it seems that the privilege is being paid for with the price of the PS4 being set so high. The PS4 is set to release on November 29th in Brazil, but the question remains, will anybody buy it at all at that price?
