Driveclub possibly delayed until 2014
PS4 exclusive Driveclub may of just been delayed until 2014, according to a “close” anonymous source that has worked on the project. This news follows in the wake of Ubisoft’s announcement that Watch Dogs and The Crew have also been delayed until the middle of 2014 as well.
With less than a month to go until launch, now is hardly the best time to announce a delay, especially when this is one of your exclusive launch titles. Driveclub is Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s Forza 5, but now that it’s been potentially delayed along with another expected launch title, this is one more problem to take some wind out of Sony’s launch sail.
This should be taken with a pinch of salt for now, but the source who revealed the information has said to “treat this as 100% rumor for now, hopefully it will turn out to be false”. However since that comment was made other sources close to the gaming industry have also come out and confirmed Driveclub’s delay.
This means that retailers will again have to rush to change PS4 bundles on their website, as Driveclub was available via an Amazon PS4 bundle. Customers that pre ordered this will more than likely be offered a downgrade to just the standard PS4 unit, or an alternative bundle in its place.
With it being announced that three expected launch window games will be delayed for the next gen consoles in the last week, do you think there will be any more delays to follow before the Xbox One and PS4 both launch in November?
